## What this review covers

This review accompanies Modern Recovery Alliance founding package edition 1.0, prepared 6 October 2026. It records how the supplied ideas were preserved, where proposals extend or change them, and what the founding community still needs to decide. It is an editorial and design review, not legal approval, clinical certification, or adoption by members.

The package was developed from 14 supplied screenshots. All were visually inspected and transcribed; the original wording and source identifiers are in Original_MRA_Source_Transcription.txt. Research sources are recorded individually in the Evidence Companion and structured Evidence_Register.json, with claim scope, limitations and publication details. Clinical facts are distinguished from proposed rules and values. The documents should remain editable as the community develops them.

## What remains from the original

The exact name Modern Recovery Alliance and tagline Recovery that evolves with the world are retained. The platform carries forward eight core principles, multiple recovery pathways, mental health inclusion, a humane response to setbacks, personal dignity, active protection against exploitation, ten Foundations, voluntary milestone recognition and community independence.

The original Creed remains in the source transcript. Its literary language is preserved, including its spiritual metaphors; reading or endorsing it is never proposed as a membership condition. Its emotional statements are not presented as clinical evidence. A contemporary blue, navy and cyan identity develops the original mountain and network imagery into reproducible vector artwork.

## Source preservation and proposed changes

Original eight principles: preserved in substance, with concrete commitments and carefully scoped evidence. The aspiration that community saves lives becomes a commitment to meaningful connection and appropriate support without claiming an untested MRA mortality effect.

Original traditions: all supplied traditions are transcribed, and the platform gives an operating interpretation that keeps their numbering. Tradition 8 is missing from the supplied screenshots. A privacy and consent commitment is explicitly proposed in that slot; it is not presented as original wording. If the original is found, compare it openly before adoption.

Participation: the source names desire to improve life as its only requirement. The proposed first pilot is adult-only and adds conduct rules, reviewable restrictions and governance eligibility. These are substantial operational additions, not facts discovered in the source. Members should specifically discuss them before ratifying a charter.

Ten Foundations: adapted into optional, revisitable prompts. No required sequence, confession, disclosure, optimism or spiritual belief. Repairing harm must not pressure anyone into unsafe contact or reconciliation. People may pass, adapt language or choose another tool.

Milestones: the source rejects clean-time chips and proposes personally meaningful achievements. The proposal retains no ranks, resets, privileges, proof requirements or compulsory celebration. It adds the option of a personally chosen abstinence anniversary as one goal among many. This clarification changes a strict source prohibition and therefore requires an explicit member decision. No token represents treatment, certification or contingency management.

Shared authority: the source aspiration is developed into proposed terms, elections, quorum, recall, recusal, spending records, independent complaints review and succession. Numerical thresholds are design choices for a small pilot, not scientifically validated rules.

Independent identity: The Trap House Discord can host initial co-design, but technical ownership is not assumed to be community ownership. The handbook requires permission transparency, independent stewardship and an opt-in migration route if a dedicated community home is chosen. MRA is not a marketing channel for the founder's book, music, documentary or merchandise.

## Improvements made after the first full draft

Timeline consistency: the platform, operations and launch plan now distinguish days 1 to 14 preparation, days 15 to 30 co-design, days 31 to 60 a four-week support pilot, and days 61 to 90 review and ratification. No date overrides a readiness requirement. The interim term is limited to 90 days, with only an explicitly authorized caretaker arrangement if elections are delayed.

Review capacity: independent complaints and appeal reviewers must be identified and consenting before sensitive peer activity begins. They may be external to a small steward team. Review capacity is a real launch condition rather than an unfunded promise to appoint people later.

Emergency authority and voting: one moderator can take a short protective action when necessary, with a second independent review within 24 hours. Meeting restrictions do not automatically strip governance rights. Any restriction on governance needs its own reason and review. Worked quorum examples and a tie fallback clarify decision-making.

Founder-independent continuity: nonsensitive operating records and notice access are shared through authorized individual roles. If existing technical ownership blocks an adopted decision, members may choose a new home and invite people through consented routes. The model never requires sharing credentials or copying personal histories.

Privacy and media: support-room material is excluded from publicity, documentary work, research and model training. Later creative contributions must be newly arranged outside support with specific consent. Deletion and access records are limited to what MRA can actually control; no promise covers platform backups, unauthorized copies or all private messages.

Volunteer capacity: the six-hour estimate applies only to preparation and co-design. Live support has a separate 10 to 12 team-hour weekly planning baseline, with additional time for independent reviews. Both required meeting volunteers must be present or replaced by prepared people; otherwise the session is cancelled. Orientation and practice do not make a volunteer professionally certified.

Document authority: all components belong to one unratified edition 1.0. If members adopt a charter, that adopted text controls governance and operating procedures. The platform expresses commitments; the handbook supplies procedures; public summaries and graphics never create services or powers that members have not authorized. Before adoption, disagreements between drafts are questions for decision, not grounds for unilateral founder interpretation.

## Decisions before a support pilot

Name the three interim stewards and their task backups. Record who controls the existing Discord and who can access each channel. Select actual reporting routes and realistic response hours. Arrange two independent initial reviewers and three distinct appeal reviewers, including external reviewers if needed. Confirm their consent and practical availability before promising that process.

Prepare two meeting volunteers, rehearse the boundaries and emergency signposting, and confirm replacement coverage. Choose an access-controlled complaint-record method and publish its limits. Check emergency resources for the actual location of participants. The supplied emergency resources are United States resources; global service availability is not assumed.

Ask members to decide the adult pilot boundary, conduct policy, voting model, privacy commitment proposed as Tradition 8, optional Foundation language, abstinence-anniversary clarification and financial controls. Resolve how name, artwork, domain and technical accounts will be held for community benefit before substantial public investment. Do not collect funds on an assumption of charitable or tax-exempt status.

A meeting date, verified invitation link, service roster, legal form, incorporation, trademark clearance, insurance and professional partnership have not been established by this package. The public materials therefore invite founding participation without inventing those facts.

## What to improve after real participation begins

Ask whether members can disagree without losing access; whether an absent member can return; whether someone can participate without disclosing; whether accessibility needs are met; and whether someone other than the founder can operate the group. Look for missed tasks, unpaid overload and confusing rules as well as positive feedback. Keep changes dated and explain why they were made.

The first evidence register is focused, not a systematic review of every peer-support model. A later research update should broaden the synthesis of peer support, consult local services and include critical feedback from people using different recovery pathways. Do not hold the initial governance proposal out as clinically validated while that work develops.

Review the name and mark for confusing similarity before registration or major spending. Test print samples and phone-sized graphics with actual readers, including people with access needs. Consider translated and large-print editions based on demand and capacity. No accessibility certification or legal clearance is implied by visual review.

## Review conclusion

The resulting package turns a compelling concept into a specific founding proposal with evidence boundaries, member powers, practical operating procedures, a distinct visual system and a bounded launch plan. Its remaining uncertainties are visible decisions for a community to make. The next step is to invite people into those decisions, test a small operation only when ready, and revise the structure from what members actually experience.
